I've been interested to read about how healthcare for USA citizens is organised. It's true, the National Health Service in the UK is under-funded and waiting lists are LONG unless you literally have a life-threatening condition. (Several months for a first consultation with a specialist, then a couple of months or more between each test, then a waiting list for an operation). The current government did recently earmark funds for improvements but this hasn't filtered through yet. Some people buy their own private health insurance but most of us can't afford it.
I think doctors here do try to use the cheapest option for each patient while still trying to do their best for each patient's health - a difficult balance. My concern is that the endocinch is quite unusual here in the UK and so they might try to send me for fundoplication instead...
