I have also read that it is around $2,000. That is why I asked how much it was. If I would have been quoted that price I would have gone ahead with the procedure tomorrow and taken the chance of having it turned down by my insurance, but for $8,000, I don't want to take that chance. The price I was quoted by the nurse on the phone was $8,000 and that does NOT include those other tests because I have already had the other tests and my insurance has already paid for them. The doc I am going to is the head of the Endocinch study, so he is the foremost expert on this procedure, so maybe he charges more. He is a surgeon who only does anti-reflux surgery only. Maybe the fee I was quoted was so high because the insurance always pays less and expects the provider to write off a certain amount so they ask for more to begin with. I don't know. After shopping around for what I think is the best surgeon in my region, I am not sure that I want to begin a search for the cheapest surgeon. I agree that $8,000 is very high for a prodecure that is supposed to take about 30 minutes and that probably needs to be repeated every 2-4 years. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that insurance will pay and they will accept what my insurance offers and I will be able to have this done ASAP!!!
