Hi Alva, I haven't had the 24hr PH test yet. I've had an endoscopy and am due to have an ultrasound. I've been on PPIs for well over a year. I'm young and hope to have a family at some stage so will need to be able to do without PPIs. Currently I cannot manage without 40mg Nexium daily; I get awful nausea, vomiting and pains. The doctors have not proved the cause of my symptoms yet but they've said if it is acid related then since I can't manage without PPIs surgery may be my only cure. Perhaps the doctors only recommend surgery for people below a certain age as only then is surgery clearly less expensive for them than permanent PPIs? Or perhaps if the PPIs are working well for you, the doctor doesn't want to put you through the trauma of surgery? Whereas the PPIs only work a certain amount for me, and I have to be able to not take them in order to have kids. Have you sought a second opinion?
