Apparently my throat was scraped while the tube was removed after my endoscopy. I have a deep pain during eating and when I talk around my adam's apple. The strongest possibility is that the irritation caused a herpes flare-up down there, so I've been put on Valtrex for now. The pain has been going on for 6 days without improvement. My specialist doesn't seem worried, and he also prescribed a mix of Mylanta and Lidocaine to be swallowed every 2 hours to numb the pain. Now, this has helped the pain enough that I can eat, but I've been experiencing increased acid in my mouth and pretty bad chest tightness. Does anyone know if this can be a side effect of persistent Lidocaine usage or am I just having a bad night? I've only been drinking the Lidocaine and taking the Valtrex for one day, and my Endoscopy was last Thursday.
